So you might remember this #TransitThursday we did a couple of months ago, it was all about our favorite movies and TV shows featuring transit. If you missed it, be sure to check it out:
Well, Ashley Robbins (or as most of you know her on twitter - @cctgirl ) took all of your suggestions and developed an awesome video for Atlanta’s FastTrack Forward Campaign. What a better place to debut this video, then right here with all of you who helped plant the seed with #TransitThursday!
Later today, we’ll premiere the video right here on #TransitThursday! So be sure to check it out the video, share it with all your friends (especially the ones in Atlanta) & RT it! Let’s spread the word this #TransitThursday to everyone in Atlanta to VOTE FOR the Regional Transportation Referendum July 31. #TIA2012
Keeping with the theme of the upcoming Atlanta Regional Transportation Referendum, let’s talk about all of the awesome reasons we <3 #transit and transportation funding! So this #TransitThursday we ask:
What does transit & transportation funding mean to you?
- Does it mean access to your job?
- Is it a way to go to the doctor’s office?
Why do you love your transit ride?
What would life be like for you if you had no transit or transportation funding?
& Don’t forget to use the hashtag #TransitThursday
Can You Believe It’s #TransitThursday Already!? I can’t! Time sure flies when you’re riding transit!
This week’s topic was inspired by both the @gotriangle & @CCTgirl! Thanks y’all!
The first inspiration is from the @gotriangle I<3 Transit event that I attended last week in Durham, NC included a photo booth, free t-shirts, slap bracelets, stickers, & postcards, all to PROMOTE TRANSIT! (see previous blog post for more info).
(Photo credit: @gotirangle post from http://www.facebook.com/GoTriangle)
My other inspiration for this week’s topic comes from @CCTgirl! She has inspired me with her wildly popular penny lapel pins that are being used by Fast Track Forward and the Livable Communities Coalition to promote the upcoming July 31 TIA transportation tax referendum in Atlanta. (BTW, in case you’re wondering @CCTgirl has officially depleted ALL of the Michael’s stores, nationwide, of their lapel backs! WAHOO!!!)

So, whether it’s free t-shirts, photo booths, lapel pins, bumper stickers, buttons, reusable grocery bags, stickers, free passes, cool ads, events.. let us know:
What’s your favorite transit promotion?
Don’t forget to use the #TransitThursday hashtag!
Want to know more about how you can get involved in the upcoming July 31 TIA referendum in Atlanta, contact @CCTgirl on twitter or check out their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/FasTrackForward
Want free photos, t-shirts, stickers, slap bracelets like I have? Attend the next @gotriangle I <3 Transit event on July 6 at Tir a Nog in downtown Raleigh, NC. FMI: http://t.co/7eDPE1Jr or check their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/GoTriangle
Today is a special #TransitThursday because it’s also @CCTgirl Ashley Robbins 30th Birthday!
Ashley and I met via twitter almost 2 years ago. Since then, we’ve forged a friendship through our love for all things transit!
For those of you who don’t know or follow @CCTgirl, you should. She is campaigning for the TIA, the Atlanta Region’s sales tax referendum campaign for transportation. If successful on July 31, long-awaited transportation funds will help untie Atlanta traffic; improving the quality of life for people in the Atlanta region, & helping to create jobs!
I’ve asked Ashley to come up with today’s #TransitThursday topic, but until then, let’s celebrate Ashley’s birthday by celebrating what she does to help the transportation industry & the people of the Atlanta region.
To celebrate @CCTgirl’s 30th, let’s kick off #TransitThursday with 30 reasons to fund transit! :-)
**Don’t forget to include the hashtag #TransitThursday
P.S. Bonus quiz: How many days has it been since Congress passed a transportation bill?? (Price is Right rules apply… closest without going over) #FundTransit
